I find it easy to change the heads to suit the floor surface. There is a soft head for hard floor and a regular head for carpet.
The power head glides easily on wooden floors with a simple turn of the wrist, allowing me to negotiate around furniture and under hard to reach areas.
The stick vacuum is brilliant on carpet and smooth floors. It's almost worth it for rugs I have.
