About YAMAHA RX-A2A AVENTAGE 7.2-Channel AV Receiver
Overall Feedback:
73% positive
66% highlighted the user interface, but 34% didn't
I am disappointed with the user interface of the stereo-receiver. It is very basic looking and slow at responding to basic functions like turning up the volume or going into the menu (on screen). I compared it with my few year old Yamaha RX-683 and found it to be a few steps back.
69% found the sound quality exceptional.
Aventage models have a key feature that RX ones don't - a 5th foot in the middle. It improves sound with more stabilization.
I compared the sampling rate of two receivers and found that a2a has a higher sampling rate than v765.
77% were impressed with the power output
I have noticed that the new receiver has more power/watts, lower THD, and better sound than the old one.
I noticed that the receiver barely gets warm to the touch, which is a stark difference from what I am accustomed to with big, powerful AV receivers.
85% were impressed with the multi-room capability
I have two zones set up and switching between them and connecting with my RX-A4A model in the bonus room for party mode is very intuitive.
64% were satisfied with the connectivity options, but 36% weren't
The connection to the wireless surround speakers is unreliable.
RX-A4A is only HDMI 2.1-capable in terms of fixed rate link over HDMI. However, it falls closer to an HDMI 2.0 standard, which is not suitable for modern gamers.
This receiver is not suitable for me as a gamer with next-gen hardware (PS5, XBOX Series X, PCs with RTX 3000 series) looking to incorporate a receiver into my HDMI 2.1 setup. The input and output of the receiver caps at 24 Gbps, even after the hardware upgrade, meaning it will NOT pass through a full-fat signal.
66% found it compatible, but 34% didn't
HDMI-CEC doesn't work properly with my TV and SHIELD. The old receiver worked fine, so I'm pretty sure this one is incompatible.
I am disappointed with the user interface of the stereo-receiver. It is very basic looking and slow at responding to basic functions like turning up the volume or going into the menu (on screen). I compared it with my few year old Yamaha RX-683 and found it to be a few steps back.
The preset up or down button does not switch to the station until the select button is hit, making it impossible to sample station to station using the preset button.
I have noticed that Pioneer is posting inflated power claims and when pushing two channels at .08% distortion it’s only 80 watts per channel.
