About Sony STR-DG510 Home Theater Receiver
79% highlighted the user interface, but 21% didn't
I found navigating the menus a bit counter-intuitive, but the manual provided with the unit was helpful.
71% found the sound quality exceptional, but 29% didn't
With the right speakers, the stereo-receiver provides plenty of power and sounds great with video games, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The sound quality of this stereo-receiver is poor even with the treble turned all the way up, and there is a steep roll-off to frequencies above 10kHz. I compared its sound quality with another product (STR-DG1000) and found it vastly inferior to the point where I cannot enjoy music on it.
76% were impressed with the power output, but 24% weren't
The receiver is powerful for a 5.1 and suitable for those who don't spend hundreds of dollars on speakers.
With the new receiver, I noticed that the speakers purchased in late '97 require a slightly higher volume setting to power them.
The sound quality is poor with a steep roll-off to frequencies above 10kHz, even with the treble turned all the way up.
76% were satisfied with the connectivity options, but 24% weren't
The HDMI inputs are useless. You have to run an audio cable along with the HDMI cable to get the sound to play on this stereo-receiver.
75% found it compatible, but 25% didn't
The receiver is misleading about the 2 optical, 1 coax connections, and how they work with the component video in options.
