I upgraded to Onkyo TXSR-393 from the older TXSR-373 mainly for the support of 4K UHD and most importantly support for Dolby Atmos and DTS X. It makes all the difference for sound and home theater audio.
I wanted a stereo-receiver that could decode Atmos, DTS, etc., and accept and pass-through HDMI input, and was compatible with my 5.1 stereo surround setup. I chose Onkyo TX-SR393.
If we want the speakers to work on a shared circuit, the receiver would be ideal. But if we face volume issues, each speaker should have its own circuit.
When using an optical cable, I am unable to get sound options, but patching the source through the receiver provides pretty good sound.

I love the simplicity of the stereo-receiver's user interface when connected to my newer TCL Roku TV. The volume controls and everything work well when using eARC and CeC.
I appreciate the remote of the stereo-receiver, with useful buttons like tone control and vocal button for low volume dialog. It is easy to use.
