About Onkyo TX-NR646 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver
Overall Feedback:
66% positive
71% were impressed with the multi room capability, but 29% weren't
I can connect two outdoor speakers to Zone 2 and play music independently while controlling the volume of each zone.
I am disappointed that I can only send analog audio sources out the zone 2 line outs. Considering this receiver is quite capable of converting analog video to digital video, why doesn’t it work with just audio as well?
66% found it compatible, but 34% didn't
I have experienced that this receiver converts analog to digital video extremely well and has improved the quality of the output. My Laser discs have never looked so good.
The receiver is supposed to be 4k compatible but it downgrades everything to 1080p. I was surprised that Onkyo called it a 4k receiver.
65% highlighted the user interface, but 35% didn't
I have noticed that the receiver has more physical inputs than logical input selections.
69% were satisfied with the connectivity options
Many receivers do not have the option of 5.1 surround sound in the family room as zone A and 2 speakers outside for zone B.
I am able to hook up two outdoor speakers to Zone 2 and play music independently while controlling volume to each zone. Additionally, Bluetooth can be sent to each of the zones or both.
I am disappointed with the sound quality of the stereo-receiver. It sounds weak and boring compared to my 40W NAD from the 80s which sounds 5x more powerful.
I upgraded to Onkyo TXSR-393 from the older TXSR-373 mainly for the support of 4K UHD and most importantly support for Dolby Atmos and DTS X. It makes all the difference for sound and home theater audio.
I am frustrated with the user interface of the stereo-receiver. It should be a no-brainer plug and play, but instead, it seems designed to force paying their professionals to do it for you.
