About Onkyo TX-NR6100 7.2 Channel THX Certified Network AV Receiver
Overall Feedback:
82% positive
78% found the sound quality exceptional, but 22% didn't
I compared the sound quality of Onkyo and Denon stereo-receivers. Onkyo has a brighter upper midrange/lower treble sound, but its lower midrange and bass are not as sharp and clear as Denon's, despite having 20 extra watts. I had to tone down the sound using the unit's audio equalizer, but it didn't fix the problem well.
I found the sound quality of this stereo-receiver somewhat subdued/hollow with my 7.1 Emotiva speakers. With some tweaking, I was able to achieve an acceptable sound.
71% found it compatible.
I have connected all my devices through certified 2.1a, shielded, HDMI cables and press a button on my Harmony remote, and everything switches without an issue.

I am dissatisfied with the display of the stereo-receiver. The display only shows the current input name and nothing else. I would have preferred if the current audio codec or speaker configuration could be shown.
86% were impressed with the power output, but 14% weren't
Managing the specific low pitches of the system, i.e. the base sounds coming out of the subwoofer, was horrible.
My system consists of 9 speakers and 2 subs, but the Onkyo TX-NR6100 only supports 7 speakers and 2 subs.

I can use a single HDMI cable to switch audio for multiple input devices to my 7.2 sound system with the receiver.

I upgraded to Onkyo TXSR-393 from the older TXSR-373 mainly for the support of 4K UHD and most importantly support for Dolby Atmos and DTS X. It makes all the difference for sound and home theater audio.
The stereo-receiver is a great modular unit that delivers clean sound with a fine degree of control. It is easy to set up and can be used with various devices like TV, computer, streaming device, etc.
I initially found the volume control too-fine grained, but later discovered that it is speed sensitive, making big adjustments when turned fast and fine adjustments when turned slowly.
