About Harman Kardon AVR 1700 5.1-Channel Network-Connected Audio/Video Receiver
Overall Feedback:
75% positive
76% were satisfied with the connectivity options
I believe that the stereo-receiver has a lot of connectivity options and receiver companies haven't figured out ARC technology yet, but TV companies have.
90% found it compatible, but 10% didn't
I have used the receiver and noticed that it has a lot of connections. I believe that ARC is a new technology that receiver companies haven't figured out yet, but TV companies have.
I recommend not buying a stereo-receiver with network compatibility. Instead, use Chromecast as Airplay is not compatible with Android. Also, note that the stereo-receiver requires an Ethernet cable for network use as it does not have WiFi.
72% found the sound quality exceptional.
I compared the sound quality of this stereo-receiver with my old B&K/Rotel setup that was 3,500 retail and every bit of 100 lbs. The HK sounds better mostly because it's not 10-15 years old tech- faster and better processing for 5.1.
76% were impressed with the power output
I have plenty of power for most small satellite speakers with my stereo-receiver and it drives my Martin Logans well.
I am very pleased with my H/K AVR 1700. Once I connected its outputs to my current TV set and 5.1 speaker system, the media sources connected to its input ports are great compared to what I was getting from my old Home Theater/Entertainment center.
89% were satisfied with the build quality and durability
I think the stereo-receiver looks great and has enough power despite its feather weight. Movies sound great and music sounds good based on my experience.
I believe that the stereo-receiver has a lot of connectivity options and receiver companies haven't figured out ARC technology yet, but TV companies have.
I compared the sound quality of Onkyo and Denon stereo-receivers. Onkyo has a brighter upper midrange/lower treble sound, but its lower midrange and bass are not as sharp and clear as Denon's, despite having 20 extra watts. I had to tone down the sound using the unit's audio equalizer, but it didn't fix the problem well.
