About Denon DRA-800H 2-Channel Stereo Network Receiver for Home Theater
Overall Feedback:
85% positive
83% were impressed with the power output, but 17% weren't
I noticed that the stereo-receiver can power the speakers but only just and there is a significant degradation to the sound quality. The bass was just gone.
89% highlighted the user interface, but 11% didn't
The setup on screen interface may seem confusing, but I can set it up using the unit's screen in 30-60 minutes by looking up the manual at Denon online.
88% were impressed with the multi room capability, but 12% weren't
I can play the same music on all three sets in different rooms of the house, which shows the multi-room capability of the stereo-receivers.
I do not require the feature of directing sound to another room and do not want to involve my smartphone in HEOS operation.
74% found it compatible, but 26% didn't
I faced a problem with the stereo-receiver's compatibility when it flipped to HEOS/Bluetooth. It showed a stopped player on-screen and continued to do so until I disconnected my phone's Bluetooth.
I am disappointed that the front USB port is not compatible with iPhone or iPod, even though it was mentioned on the Denon official website.
I faced a problem with the compatibility of the stereo-receiver. I knew it could not be the Denon receiver because the manual clearly states it is 2.2 compatible.
86% were satisfied with the build quality and durability, but 14% weren't
The stereo-receiver has been in daily use for over a week with no issues and little heat output, and appears to be well-built.
I received the product in a box that was not firmly taped and the foam wrapper inside was a little torn and not taped fully, which made me concerned about the build quality and durability of the stereo-receiver.
I noticed that the stereo-receiver can power the speakers but only just and there is a significant degradation to the sound quality. The bass was just gone.
I upgraded from a low-end Yamaha 7.1 receiver to add more height channels to my home theater. I am happy with the upgrade as the object-based audio model Denon/Marantz use is a lot better than the Yamaha implementation and Audyssey MultEQ XT32 does a better job of room calibration. Movies sound much better now, even though I am using the same speakers as before.
The 2800H has enough power output to bring music to life in my listening position, bump it to my kitchen two rooms over, or watch at theater-level volume in my medium-sized living room with 8-foot ceilings.
The manual setup screens are not very intuitive and require a lot of clicking around to complete the full setup.
