About Denon AVR-X1700H 7.2 Channel AV Receiver
Overall Feedback:
90% positive
85% highlighted the user interface, but 15% didn't
The manual setup screens are not very intuitive and require a lot of clicking around to complete the full setup.
89% found the sound quality exceptional, but 11% didn't
The stereo-receiver has good bass, mids and crisp details. It sounds clearer and fuller than my old AVR.
Despite having 80 watts per channel and 6 speakers hooked up to it, the sound quality was not as good as expected.
88% were impressed with the power output, but 12% weren't
When I set up the unit for surround sound and play a stereo source, the subwoofers turn off and only front left and front right speakers are used, which is frustrating.
I dislike that the power output per channel has been reduced from 185w to 80w from the S900W to the X1600H.
I upgraded from a low-end Yamaha 7.1 receiver to add more height channels to my home theater. I am happy with the upgrade as the object-based audio model Denon/Marantz use is a lot better than the Yamaha implementation and Audyssey MultEQ XT32 does a better job of room calibration. Movies sound much better now, even though I am using the same speakers as before.
