About BLACK+DECKER IR1350S with Extra Large Soleplate
Overall Feedback:
72% positive
72% were impressed with water tank capacity, while 28% weren't
I noticed that the iron uses a lot of water, almost half a tank to steam iron one shirt. However, very little steam comes out of the vents.
When I use the iron, I notice that it uses a lot of water, almost half a tank to steam iron one shirt. However, very little steam comes out of the vents.
When I put a full tank of water in the iron, it came out of the bottom through various cracks and crevices including the power cord.
I found it almost impossible to see the water level in the chamber.
69% found the temperature control helpful, yet 31% faced problems
As long as I set the temperature in the correct range and point the sole plate down, the steam will be dispensed constantly.
I measured the temperature of the iron on the highest setting. The center measured 158F and the tip and bottom both measured around 138F.
I am dissatisfied with the temperature control of my steam-iron. Even on the highest setting, it doesn't get very hot and only heats up to a temperature that my old iron did at just over the half-way setting, not even close to the highest Cotton/Linen setting of my old iron.
82% liked the steam output, however 18% didn't
I was disappointed to find that there are fewer steam vents than I expected. I prefer more vents for a better press.
70% liked the steam burst function
I found the steam iron's steam blast function very useful for steaming hanging clothes. It can be triggered in any orientation and shoots steam up to 3 feet out of the iron.
87% found the design lightweight
I find the steam iron rather big but not heavy. This is because I have small hands and get tired of ironing all laundry after a while.
I find the iron to be just the right weight at 3 lbs and not too heavy for the job.
The iron is lightweight and flattens wrinkles without much effort.
I have an iron that is lightweight and has a generous 10 ft. cord.
I chose this iron because it is relatively lightweight at 2-1/2 lbs and heats and steams well.
77% appreciated the auto shut-off
After the automatic shut down is activated, it only takes a slight movement of the iron to get the heat back on within seconds to iron the next piece of fabric sewn.
80% appreciated the anti-drip feature, whereas 20% raised concerns
I have been using it for over a year now and have not experienced any leaks to complain about, indicating that the anti-drip feature is working well.
When on the steam and cotton setting, the iron spits and drips water, leaving streaks and spots of dampness on the fabric.

I over-filled the iron several times because the color blocked the line.
