About KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 Quart Tilt Head Stand Mixer
Overall Feedback:
63% positive
60% found it easy to clean, while 40% fond it difficult
Cleaning the stand-mixer is easy, except for the planetary gear cover area where the attachments attach to. The bowl and attachments are light and easy to clean and maneuver.
It's not easy to clean the mixer bowl. You have to turn it off, lift the blade, and scrape. It cannot be done while it is running.
I had to spend 45 minutes cleaning the bowl with a baking soda solution to remove contamination caused by KitchenAid's polishing process, as directed on their website.
62% praised the quiet operation, but 38% disagreed
The mixer produces a loud and screeching sound, which is too loud to continue mixing. It's like a mixer that has never been oiled.
I fixed the screeching noise by turning the mixer upside down and applying machine oil. It took a week to soak-in and stop the noise. I will keep monitoring this to see if the problem returns.
Right out of the box, the mixer had a high-pitched ear-splitting noise.
There is a rhythmic mechanical grinding noise inside the gear head area of the mixer indicating misalignment of the gears or poor manufacturing tolerances.
I noticed that the mixer worked well initially but started making a loud screeching noise when the beater was turned on.

61% were satisfied with the performance, but 39% didn't liked it
I struggle with the mixer even when mixing cookie dough.
When I used 3/4 of the stated dough capacity, the machine almost shook itself to death.
62% were impressed with the speed settings, but 38% weren't
The placement of the Tilt control and Speed control on my mixer is very inconvenient.
When using the splash guard, Stir-2-4 settings at speed 6 still cause a mess on the countertop and floors.
61% appreciate the storage space, but 39% showed dissapointment
The bowl size of the stand-mixer is smaller than what I often need, and I have to stop and scrape the sides and bottom more often than using a regular bowl and hand mixer.

The mixer has an attractive high-end look and will look fine on your countertops, but it's a little large and requires space. However, it's no bigger than my average mixer.
