About TOSOT 9,000 BTU Mini-Split Air Conditioner
Overall Feedback:
97% positive
96% found the ventilation options useful, while 4% were indifferent
The remote has a built-in temperature sensor and can act as a thermostat up to 20ft away from the unit.
Adjusting the temperature is very easy with the wireless remote control. It also has a function to read the temperature from your location and keep it at the preferred set temperature when the remote is close to you.
The remote has decent communication range but needs to be pointed directly at the indoor unit to work, even when in 'Ifeel' mode.
I recommend buying one of the aftermarket smart controllers instead of the wifi version as the wifi and app of the split-system-air-conditioner doesn’t seem to be compatible with newer routers.
I found a connector labeled 'Wi-Fi' inside the electrical compartment of the indoor unit that supposedly supports an optional Tosot/Gree wi-fi module. I ordered/installed this optional module but unfortunately, it would not connect to my wifi system, so I returned it.
95% were impressed with the noise level
I am impressed with how quiet the split-system-air-conditioner is, unlike my previous window AC unit.
The air conditioner is so quiet that we can have a whisper conversation right next to it.
I couldn't hear the unit running from the next room over, so it seems to be a quiet split-system-air-conditioner.
The indoor and outdoor units of our air conditioner are reasonably quiet.
I have been using the split-system-air-conditioner for the past 6 weeks and am happy with its silent and efficient performance.
97% found it quick to install
During installation, I only need to run the lines carefully, seal and torque the flares, and use proper wiring.
I cut the copper pipe about 5 feet and flared the ends for an easier install into the wall, making the installation process easier than pulling 25 feet of copper line outside.
The installation process is pretty simple, but it may be too advanced for someone who is not much of a DIY person and they may need to find someone handy to help with it.
I installed the split-system-air-conditioner myself and added a 220 volt/15 amp circuit to my electrical service panel per the specifications from TOSOT and local electrical codes. I completed the installation working slowly and deliberately.
I found an instructional video helpful in the installation process of split-system-air-conditioners. It was laid out from start to finish and included electrical expectations and much needed pointers to the typically forgotten little things.
97% liked the cooling capacity
The 12k unit cools my 1000 sq. ft. house down to 64 F without any problem, even when the outside temperature was 91F all day.
The air conditioner can cool down the workshop from 95f to 78f in 1-2 hours and heat it from 30f to 70f in 2-3 hours.
After the test cycle, the remote control will work normally.
