About Cooper & Hunter Hyper Heat 24,000 BTU, 21 SEER, 12 HSPF, Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioners
Overall Feedback:
76% positive
75% found the ventilation options useful, while 25% were indifferent
I found the remote control to be straightforward and easy to use. The indoor unit can accept a wifi module, which I may consider purchasing in the future.
I am unhappy with the documentation as it doesn't mention anywhere that the remote itself is the thermostat.
I am unhappy with the manual as it has no documentation on the remote and directs me to look at the quick start or getting started guide in the remote section.
73% were impressed with the noise level
The split-system-air-conditioner is quiet. I can stand next to the outdoor compressor/condenser and not hear it run. The indoor unit is also more than acceptable in volume.
78% appreciated the less maintenance, while 22% faced issues
I found a small leak inside the heat exchanger in the outside unit and faced the problem of refrigerant leakage. It's not easy to get to the area where the leak is and I've topped it off three times, but it only works for a while until the refrigerant leaks out again.
74% found it quick to install
I have some notes for those who are installing the unit themselves and forgoing the warranty.
I installed the unit myself and it took me 6 hours, including the time to vacuum the line before releasing the Freon.
Overall, the installation process was easy, but special tools are required for installation.
After installing, we opened up the valves, checked pressures and amperage, and began testing.
72% liked the cooling capacity
I found that the air conditioner has a good cooling capacity as it was able to bring the temperature from 65* to 75* in 20 minutes in heat mode and from 75* to 70* in 15 minutes in cool mode.
I found the remote control to be straightforward and easy to use. The indoor unit can accept a wifi module, which I may consider purchasing in the future.
I have figured out the follow me setting on the remote control of the split-system-air-conditioner. It dropped my cycle time to about 1 cycle an hour from 5 or 6. The key is to keep it pointed at the head unit and I repositioned it to the middle of the room higher up to the ceiling for heat mode.
I suggest back-lighting the remote buttons for easier adjustments at night.
