About SCC QG2837 Quik Grip V-Bar Truck Single RS Tire Traction Chain
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
93% appreciated its durability, though 7% experienced breakage
The snow chains have a small bar welded to each chain link that contacts the road to help give better traction and/or longer life, making them more expensive than many others.
The weak link of these snow chains is the connector from the v-bar chain to the chain that runs the length of the chain on either side of the tire. It is made of very soft steel and bends easily, causing the chains to come off. I used these chains to drive through almost two feet of snow, but still, they should not have broken. Other reviews have said they had similar failures to mine, so I know I was not abusing them. Two links came off based on what I described above and others were close to coming off. I bent them back to where they won't come off using channel locks and a pair of vice grips. Before using them, push the two sides of the soft connector thing together on your garage floor. That way when you are in the snow using them, they will already be bent to where they want to be and will be less likely to come off.
I have had to replace about 6 links so far since they keep breaking on me, indicating that the product is not durable.
87% found it easy to install
The second time I put on the snow chains, it took me about 20 minutes. I think I can do it in 15 or less once I get it down a little more.
92% liked the high-quality chain material, but 8% found it prone to corrosion
The quality of snow-chains is good enough for moderately heavy use, similar to 20 years ago when they were not cheap with the metal.
I used the chains for just 5 minutes and they broke. The quality is terrible.
I have complained that the connector from the v-bar chain to the chain running the length of the tire is made of soft steel and is not strong, leading to product failure.
I am disappointed with the quality of the snow chains I purchased for my steep driveway. They break frequently, which affects their ability to secure properly and perform their intended function.
91% liked how quiet they are, but 9% found them noisy
I have had to replace 6 links so far since they keep breaking on me, mainly on the right-hand side.
75% liked the perfect size and fit, but 25% found it small
I bought snow chains from Amazon that were supposed to fit my vehicle with 225 65-17 tires, but when I looked at the sizes they fit, my tire size was not listed. Now I have brand new chains that I cannot return because they do not fit any of my vehicles.
93% praised for its exceptional traction
The V-bar on these snow chains provides aggressive traction but requires more wheel clearance.
The snow chains have a small bar welded to each chain link that contacts the road to help give better traction and/or longer life, making them more expensive than many others.
I am giving the benefit of the doubt that it is a defect as all my other sets still work great. I am rating it 3 for durability since one side still works and they are sending a replacement.
