Paper shavings have more absorbency and less odor than wood shavings.
The bedding litter is soft, absorbent and expands a lot.
I compared the absorbency of the bedding with Aspen shavings and found it to be more absorbent. It prevents the cage from getting wet and icky if the hamster pees or poops on it.
The last bag of litter I had was absorbent and fluffy, but the current one is like paper scraps and won't last long.
