About Nikon 24-120mm f/4G ED VR AF-S NIKKOR Lens
Overall Feedback:
79% positive
72% appreciated the wide aperture range
With the F4 aperture, I can get really great shots and bokeh.
I tested the lenses personally at f/5.6 and f/11, and at focal lengths of 24, 35, 50, 70, and for the last two, 85, which shows that I have tested the aperture range of the lens.
82% praised for its solid build quality
The product has superb build quality, which is usual for Nikon products.
The lens is built like a tank and designed in a very nice way. It's a heavy-duty lens that can last for years with proper care.
I find the 24-120 f/4 lens to be of professional quality and well-built. It may not be as good as the 24-70 f/2.8 lens, but it is better than the 28-300 lens.
The lens has excellent build quality and looks professional.
71% liked its fast and accurate autofocus
On the FX sensor, I can get a good wide angle effect at 24mm and take close-ups at 120mm with a focus distance of just 0.45m (1.5ft).
The autofocus is very accurate and the sharpness is great at all zoom settings, with only slight fall off at the edges.
I compared the focusing accuracy of two lenses and found that the 24-120 is sharper with better contrast than the 24-85 at all apertures, both in the center and at the edge.
80% praised for its exceptional image quality
The image quality of this lens is professional and well-built. It may not be as good as the 24-70 f/2.8, but it's better than the 28-300.
71% liked its compact and lightweight design
The lens is lightweight and ideal for walking around. I am used to carrying a 28-300mm lens and there is little difference in weight.
I took a candid shot outdoors in medium light with this lens on my D3400 using /2.8, 1/1600, 35mm, ISO200, showcasing its aperture range.
