I am using an Audioquest HDMI cable which has resulted in much more detail, sound-stage and dynamics.
I get a quality 24bit/192khz sound using the optical cable, indicating good cable quality of the signal converter.

After using the signal converter, I noticed a significant improvement in sound quality. The lows were deeper and hit harder, highs were more detailed and separated, mids were clearer, and the soundstage width, depth, and height improved. I believe this is due to the more accurate attack and decay, which gave a better sense of space. The imaging was also noticeably improved. Overall, everything sounded better.
When I used the I2s output, the performance of the signal converter significantly improved. The mix became clearer, bass appeared from the depths, and imaging and soundstage coherence and spaciousness increased.
