The new sharpening stone is much easier to control than my old camping-sized whet stone. Its large surface area makes it easier to keep the edge of the blade flat against the stone.
The whetstones are easy to change out when moving to use the next grit size and stable in the bamboo base.
The angle guide works well on kitchen knives, but is not suitable for small pocket knives due to its size.

I achieved the desired sharpness of my chef knife with just 400 and 1000 grit stone and a few swipes on leather with that white thing rubbed. I didn't even bother using 3000 and 8000 grit stone.
I ran the chisel over the first two grits of stone and it returned to its factory edge.
