I had difficulty getting the stones perfectly flat for sharpening as I purchased a similar version of the product, but it was the exact same size as the stones I was flattening.

The 180 grit side of the sharpening-stone quickly removes steel from badly abused chisels and plane irons, while the 120 grit side is very aggressive and best for axes.
After sharpening 5 chisels and 4 plane irons, I noticed that the diamond plates lost their grit and are now around 400 grit.

I suggest using light pressure while using the sharpening stone to avoid ripping off diamonds.
I found the sharpening-stones easy to clean. It can be done using a small screwdriver, tip of a knife, or anything to get into the slots to pop off the plates from the form. I suggest wiping any excess water off the plates and form and letting it dry before reassembling.
