About SCOTTCHEN Diamond Flattening Stone Lapping Plate
73% found it versatile, but 27% didn't.
If you rarely do this kind of work, the job can be done with it. But if you intend to do it regularly, save your money and get a continuous diamond stone.
72% highlighted the size and dimensions, but 28% didn't.
I had difficulty getting the stones perfectly flat for sharpening as I purchased a similar version of the product, but it was the exact same size as the stones I was flattening.
67% were highly impressed by the material composition, but 33% raised concerns
I found goobers or raised sections of metal/diamond in the sharpening-stones which deeply scored the stones.
67% were satisfied with the grit size, but 33% faced issues
The 180 grit side of the sharpening-stone quickly removes steel from badly abused chisels and plane irons, while the 120 grit side is very aggressive and best for axes.
After sharpening 5 chisels and 4 plane irons, I noticed that the diamond plates lost their grit and are now around 400 grit.
73% found it easy to use
I suggest using light pressure while using the sharpening stone to avoid ripping off diamonds.
I found the sharpening-stones easy to clean. It can be done using a small screwdriver, tip of a knife, or anything to get into the slots to pop off the plates from the form. I suggest wiping any excess water off the plates and form and letting it dry before reassembling.
73% appreciated the durability, but 27% were dissatisfied
I tried using the sharpening stone, but it left deep scratches on the stones.
I have personally experienced that the diamond plates wear out quickly and lose their cutting power, indicating that I have used the sharpening-stones. Based on my experience, I would like to express my negative feedback regarding the durability of the sharpening-stones.
