About DMT FWFC DuoSharp Double-Sided Diamond Sharpening Stone
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
74% found it easy to use
The sharpening-stone is fast, easy to use and requires no special preparation.
73% found it versatile
The sharpening-stones are versatile for field use due to their great difference in grits, but not ideal for home sharpening.
The sharpener has two sides - one for very dull knives and lawn mower blades, and the other for general light knife sharpening.
I suggest using a sharpening stone with fine/very fine grits for versatile and long-lasting sharpening.
64% highlighted the size and dimensions, but 36% didn't.
I had an issue with the sharpening-stones due to their small surface and soft mesh.
I find it difficult to sharpen anything but the shortest paring knife with the diamond-impregnated stone, as it is only about 5 inches long.
70% were satisfied with the grit size, but 30% faced issues
The coarse grit size is very aggressive. I don't own a knife that would need this grit. It's useful for reprofiling edge geometry or getting an abused knife back into decent shape. It can be used instead of a file for an axe or machete but would be slower.
I find that the extra fine grit size is good for achieving a polished finish on a blade, but it removes metal slowly.
Touching up the edge on the coarse side (325 grit) kept my knife running beautifully to the end of a long night.
The grit size of sharpening-stones was not enough to sharpen my knife. It scraped all the diamond grit off of the blue side, leaving it slick and useless.
75% appreciated the durability
I have used this sharpener for a year and it has held up well. I have bought several diamond stones over the years and have not faced any problems with this product. Based on my experience, this sharpener is durable.
This sharpening stone is versatile and has helped me speed up the process of sharpening knives. Some knives that were taking me 20+ min to form a burr are only taking me 2-5 min now.
The sharpening stone comes with a manual angle guide that I may need to get used to.
