I was able to slice through paper with no issue after just the 1000 grit using the knife.
I suggest soaking the 400/1000 grit stone in water until the bubbles stop.
I worked on an older knife for about an hour, trying to sharpen it by working my way through the grits, but it didn't get sharp.
I have used 8000 grit stones in the past and the current one does not feel as fine as advertised.
