The sewing ruler is easy to read and understand, even for beginners like me. It has white lines marked in 1/8 and 1/4 inch, and black lines with numbers printed on white dots.

I found the mat extremely easy to use. I just had to plop it down on top of the fabric, put my rotary cutter into one of the slots, and roll. The strips came out perfectly and exactly the same width, and I was able to cut all four at once.
The teardrop openings at the base make it easy for me to slip the rotary cutter into the slot.
I still have a bit of a learning curve on using the ruler when I cut multiple rows at the same time. Simpler markings would make it easier to use.
