About Brother ST371HD Sewing Machine
Overall Feedback:
74% positive
76% liked the stitch options, but 24% didn't
I noticed that the last stitch of the buttonhole attachment, which is a zig zag stitch, doesn't stop as other machines do.
75% highlighted the automatic thread cutter, whereas 25% struggled
The only drawback of the machine is the lack of an auto thread cutter, but it's a small price to pay for the computer's longevity.
It took me a minute to figure out how to use the automatic needle threader. I had to pull it down and go between needle and threader so that a microscopic hook could grab the thread.
I have noticed that the thread loop right above the needle can be sharp and may cut the thread if I am not careful while threading.
73% appreciated the sewing speed control, yet 27% were disappointed
I find the control buttons confusing and am not used to which one controls thickness. I have to stop and look it up and do some testing.
78% found the needle positioning ideal
I centered the needle and am now satisfied with the machine. It defaults to the right position, making certain presser feet unusable.
83% found it durable, although 17% raised concerns
Many parts of this machine that were metal in my old machine are now plastic. I hope they don't break off.
75% were impressed with the bobbin system, however 25% weren't
The machine shakes violently, smells and the bobbin winder makes a very loud racing noise even after I stop pressing the pedal.
There is a button under the twin needle button that activates the automatic reverse/reinforcement stitch and needle up position to end. It's easy to use and doesn't require any complex dive into the bowels of a computer.
I appreciate being able to change the sewing speed without relying on the pedal. The lever can be used to force me to slow down. The computerized options are also great.
I noticed that the sewing machine has a variety of stitches available and the stitching appears even.
