I found it extremely easy to use and it transformed my regular pots into self-watering pots that helped my houseplants survive while I was on vacation for 2 weeks.
I found the wick easy to use in my home grown vertical farming system in the basement. It effectively kept the rockwool cubes hydrated without manual watering.

I have used a cotton rope hanging down into a bowl of water to monitor which plants need more water. It helps me to add water at the right time and prevents overwatering as the plants absorb water through the rope as per their requirement.
