About Audio-Technica ATH-M70X Closed-Back Dynamic Professional Studio Monitor Headphones
Overall Feedback:
79% positive
72% appreciated the sound
I find that the M70x has a neutral, bright, analytical sound signature with a high level of detail retrieval.
The sound quality of these headphones/earphones is the clearest I have ever heard.
75% found them easy to transport, but 25% disagreed
The M50x is a bit heavier but comes with a small carrying pouch, making it difficult to transport.
79% liked the frequency response, but 21% found some frequencies lacked clarity
The headphones provided a smooth and clear response over the entire frequency range of 5 to 40,000 hertz while listening to a large symphony orchestra with a large pipe organ.
The frequency response is excellent with good extension in both high and low range.
The headphones have a different frequency response than the m50x. The frequency response of m70x/r70x is flat.
76% appreciated the durability, but 24% reported issues
The plastic got brittle and the earpiece fell off, indicating poor durability.
I have never been rough with my headphones and have a relatively smaller head yet twice they broke from simply trying to put them on.
74% liked the comfortable fit
The headphones have a cleaner and slimmer look with thicker and softer inner foam padding, providing a slightly improved comfort level.
Both headphones are comfortable to wear if you are used to fully enclosed headphones. The T1 is more secure and warmer to wear over time.
I don't mind the slight touch of warmth in the upper bass and lower midrange of these headphones, as they are plenty revealing for mastering and mixing duties with extended highs and deep, detailed bass. The midrange frequencies are input/output with no editorializing.
