I wore the jacket while kayaking with a kayak skirt covering the cockpit. It is somewhat water resistant and raindrops beaded nicely on the sleeves. However, as the rain continued, the jacket quickly lost the pleasant feeling of being dry inside and the down vest under the jacket became quite wet in front.
