About Greadio Portable Shortwave Radio,AM FM Transistor Radio
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
85% were impressed with the portability
The radio is lightweight and can be used with batteries, making it easy to take to the patio while gardening or to the office and park.
The radio works perfectly on batteries and can be ported to places without an outlet.
76% liked the frequency range, but 24% didn't
I added test leads to extend the antenna, which allowed me to listen to many more AM radio stations.
79% were satisfied with display and controls
The controls of the radio have a quality feel to them and the display is large and good for anyone with impaired vision. It seems like an analog tuner with a digital display and the display is not backlit.
89% appreciated the audio quality, however 11% were dissatisfied
The sound quality is pretty good for a small mono radio, but it depends on how clearly the station comes in.
The sound quality of the radio depends on the reception and it comes with a telescoping antenna.
I found that the sound quality is not the greatest and there is no 'mega bass' for a richer sound.
95% appreciated the antenna length and design, while 5% struggled
With its extended antenna, the radio gets better reception than my previous radio that used the power cord as an antenna.
I suggest using a long-wire antenna clipped to the included antenna for better shortwave radio reception. It should also be included in the instruction booklet.
As an electrical engineer, I added some test leads to extend the antenna and was able to listen to many more AM radio stations. Interestingly, despite the lower frequency and longer wavelengths, this radio exhibits the opposite performance.
I found the digital channel search to be slow and frustrating as it advanced one notch at a time, making it difficult to find a working channel quickly.
The signal strength is very strong and it performs well even in the countryside where signal issues are common.
