About Weather Radio Raynic 5000 Solar Hand Crank Emergency Radio
Overall Feedback:
94% positive
77% appreciated the antenna length and design, while 23% struggled
I suggest adding an extra length of wire to the antenna to pick up broadcasts on the shortwave band of this radio.
I noticed that the antenna seems to be loosely connected electrically and it has trouble pulling in weak stations. Adjusting the antenna causes more static than normal.
The USB connection between my radio and PC is less than 1 meter and the antenna is small.
A larger antenna or the ability to attach an external antenna would improve reception on this emergency radio.
I have noticed that the tuning knob is very stiff and the dial indicator line is tilted, which seems to be a common issue as per youtube videos.
94% were impressed with the portability
The radio is easy to carry and spot in a potentially hectic situation because it is compact, lightweight, and neon green.
The radio is lightweight and compact, making it suitable for camping and short-to-moderate hiking trips.
92% liked the frequency range, but 8% didn't
The AM frequency range of this radio is not good compared to another radio with better sensitivity and selectivity on AM.
85% were satisfied with display and controls, whereas 15% weren't
I prefer the analog radio because of its brighter area lights and handy compass on the strap. I find the digital version frustrating and difficult to operate.
I find the analog radio to be easy to operate with just a few knobs and switches.
The SOS button is located next to the light control buttons and cannot be disabled, which can lead to accidental pressing of the wrong button.
I find the digital radio complicated to operate with multiple buttons and functions that require the manual.
88% appreciated the audio quality, however 12% were dissatisfied
I find it difficult to tune the FM and the sound quality is worse than transistor radios from the 1970s.
The radio displays all status including battery level, time, band, and frequency on a large highly-readable backlit display. The back light can be toggled on and off to preserve battery.
