About C. Crane CC Pocket AM FM and NOAA Weather Radio
Overall Feedback:
86% positive
81% found connectivity options easy, but 19% faced issues
I prefer using my own lightweight open-air headset with the radio, although it comes with earbuds. An FM antenna extension is included for pulling in weak stations if a headset is not in use, but I find that using a headset doubles as an antenna. Usually, I don't need to use either as most local FM stations come in strong.
The radio is missing some connectivity options such as shortwave, Line-In, recording, and built-in rechargeable option.
69% appreciated the antenna length and design, while 31% struggled
I noticed that the radio has a better design than other pocket-sized radios. It stands up on its base whereas most of the competitors either don't stand up at all or do so without good stability.
I found that the radio has a long floppy wire plug-in antenna and a headset can also be used as an antenna.
85% were impressed with the portability
I have found that this pocket radio is better at pulling in weaker stations than any other pocket radio I have owned.
The radio is very portable and can fit into a shirt pocket, and it allows access to FM, AM, and weather channels.
72% liked the frequency range
The radio has 1khz and 10khz steps on AM and narrow (2.5khz) and wide (4khz) bandwidths.
I can fine tune a distant station with the radio's ability to adjust tuning between 1 and 10 khz and also adjust the bandwidth between 2.5 and 4 khz.
88% were satisfied with display and controls, whereas 12% weren't
The display is backlighted and comes on when a button is pressed, then goes off after a few seconds. Two items in the display were faint when I first got the radio and have since disappeared.
The radio has digital functions for stations and time, but the volume control is an old-fashioned 'thumb wheel' which eventually gets weak and unstable.
80% appreciated the audio quality, however 20% were dissatisfied
The sound quality of the unit is impressive when using the included earbuds, which are better than the usual free buds.
I wish the FM reception was as strong with headphones as it is when used with integrated speaker.
I prefer using my own lightweight open-air headset with the radio, although it comes with earbuds. An FM antenna extension is included for pulling in weak stations if a headset is not in use, but I find that using a headset doubles as an antenna. Usually, I don't need to use either as most local FM stations come in strong.
I found the digital channel search to be slow and frustrating as it advanced one notch at a time, making it difficult to find a working channel quickly.
The radio has three standard controls: an off/volume wheel, a tuning wheel, and an AM/FM band slider.
