The controls are simple and there are no bass and treble controls, but the sound is surprisingly good for such an inexpensive item. The 'Tone' switch is the only control that can be used to adjust the sound between low and high.
The sound and volume work fine, and there is a tone control with low and high options, similar to bass and treble.
I did not see the 'tuning light' that confirms the tuning of the station.

I added an extension cord for FM and used the Tescun loop antenna for AM to bring the stations in loud and clear.
The radio can be powered by either 4x D batteries or AC power. However, the plug for AC power is in an odd location on the device and sticks out a bit.
