Overall Feedback:
91% positive
86% praised for its accurate alerts, but 14% encountered false alarms
The device can discern between other cyclists and cars behind me, indicating its radar-detector accuracy is good.
The radar detector is extremely accurate. It lights up green when there are no cars and red and beeps when there are cars.
Looking over my shoulder is 100% accurate, but the radar is only about 50% accurate.
81% praised the sleek and compact design, but 19% found it flimsy and cheaply made
The radar has an exceptionally bright light that enhances visibility and ensures safety on the road.
The only drawback in giving a 5-star review is the rubber band mount.
88% appreciated its long detection range, while 12% found it limited
The radar has an extended detection range, detecting cars before they can be heard coming up.
The radar on my Edge 1030 screen works well in detecting approaching vehicles, but I don't hear any audible tone which makes it less effective in notifying me.
89% found it easy to operate, while 11% had trouble understanding the settings
Pairing the Garmin Varia bike radar with my bike computer is easy and adds convenience to my rides.
I found the device easy to use as I was able to unpackage, mount, install the app and pair to my phone in less than 10 minutes.
The radar pairs effortlessly with both my Stages M200 and Magese C606 computers and has been flawless.
The radar detector set up easily and worked well in detecting approaching vehicles on my Edge 1030 screen. However, I did not hear any audible tone, which made it less effective in notifying me of approaching vehicles.
84% liked the sound quality, but 16% found it too low
I initially thought there was no audio warning, but later realized the chirping sound was coming from the head unit.
I am disappointed that the unit does not support Bluetooth earbuds or have louder sound.
I am learning that the radar detector is very accurate and can distinguish between false and actual alerts.
