About 3M Clear Extra-Wide Headlight Protective Scratch-Proof Wet-Apply Tint Vinyl Wrap Film
Overall Feedback:
74% positive
65% praised the bubble-free application, but 35% experienced issues
The line in the picture is barely visible, indicating good quality and being bubble-free.
I have noticed that the vinyl protective shield marks the vinyl slightly while releasing air/water bubbles, which is a downside.
I was unable to remove the bubbles or creases that appeared after applying the protective film, indicating that it may not be bubble-free as advertised.
66% were impressed with the clarity, while 34% weren't
I just installed new headlight lenses that are clear and look like there is nothing there.
Once properly installed, it is not visible unless I really look.
The film has decent thickness and is clear.
After adhesion, the headlights lost their sharpness and the beam of light felt like it was going through a fine mesh.
The protective shield on glass enclosures is terrible and not even remotely clear.
72% praised the device compatibility, but 28% faced issues
I found that the material did not conform to the shape of my vehicle's headlights, indicating a problem with device compatibility.
72% appreciated the durability, though 28% experienced peeling
I have no doubt that the reasonably thick and pliable vinyl can protect against regular rocks.
After adhesion, I have noticed that the beam of light loses its sharpness, which is the worst of all. Additionally, the light feels like it is going through a fine mesh, especially noticeable when it hits on a wall or fence.
If we reposition the film on contours, the glue will separate from the film and leave noticeable visual defects.
64% found it easy to install, but 36% faced troubles
I did a wet install and it went on fine as long as I kept it wet during the process. It is sticky if not wet.
If the surface is flat or has a gentle curve, it would be relatively easy for me to install.
I suggest watching an installation video. The squeegee that comes with the product is not great for applying film to headlights. It's better to order a rubber one, which I found helpful.
Installing the film on my wife's Pilot was slightly challenging due to the curved headlights.
67% praised the protection
I installed vinyl only on the headlights of my Honda and noticed that the unprotected lens is yellowing and becoming opaque while the protected headlight remains transparent.
I wanted to apply protective film to my new headlights to make them last longer.
73% liked the preserved touch sensitivity, while 27% experienced lag
I installed vinyl on the headlight of my Honda and noticed that the unprotected lens is yellowing and becoming opaque, while the protected headlight remains transparent.
I cleaned the taillights before applying the protective shield, indicating that it is not touch sensitive.
I almost gave up on trying to work out the miniature bubbles that were left, but after waiting for 3 days in warm weather, they worked themselves out and it became smooth.
