About TRENDnet Powerline 500 AV Nano Adapter Kit
Overall Feedback:
75% positive
73% liked the compact and durable design, but 27% found it flimsy
For the price, this product is perfect.
I returned the product and rated it 1 star. I bought an ethernet cable and spent an hour running it through the attic and down the wall, and saw a significant improvement in speed from 15 Mbps to 460 Mbps.
The product has invalid specs, non-updated configuration software, and bad instructions.
72% praised the connectivity
I changed my network name and found that the connection speed was 315Mbps.
76% found it easy to set up and install, but 24% had trouble with configuration
I found it easy to install and set up the powerline-network-adapters, and it gave me speeds just as fast as when I am upstairs next to the router.
Installing the devices was easy using the default encryption key, but I couldn't generate my own keys.
The adapters are reasonably easy to install, but I am underwhelmed.
66% found the network speed to be fast and reliable, but 34% experienced slow speeds
I have noticed that the powerline-network-adapters consistently get 60-90 MBps, but not the occasional 140+ MBps speeds seen with 5GHz networking.
File transfer speeds over the network negotiate at 100mbps but are only in the 400-500kbps range at best.
I have tested the speed of the powerline adapter and found it to be anywhere between 80Mbps to 200Mbps, which is not close to the rating. The test results also show the download and upload speed of my wired network.
69% praised the extended range and coverage
I chose the Trendnet brand because it had decent reviews and seemed fast compared to other brands.
I was able to get internet connection by plugging in powerline-network-adapters and using ethernet cables to connect the router to one and my PC to the other.

I compared the build quality of Netgear PLP2000 with Zyxels PLA5456 and found that Zyxels product maintained 33 to 35 MB/s in neighboring room but fell off dramatically with mixed with legacy devices at a distance (3-4 MB/s).
I was impressed with the plastic quality, size, packaging, and contents of the powerline-network-adapters.
