I used the TP-LINK PoE injector & splitter kit to connect two buildings that are 150 meters apart with a CAT5e ethernet cable, where there is no AC power between them. I placed the POE injector at the beginning of the cable, the splitter at the 50 meter mark powered from the POE injector and the ethernet cable continues on for the last 100m.

I found the setup of this PoE injector to be simple and easy with only a plug and play installation.

I cannot comment on the speed of the powerline network adapter as my cameras and switch are only 10/100.
I faced an issue with the network speed of the powerline-network-adapters. My PoE AC wireless access point would constantly give my devices only up to 10mbps of download at best and I couldn't explain why.
