About TP-Link AV1300 Powerline WiFi Extender(TL-WPA8631P KIT)
Overall Feedback:
81% positive
65% liked the compact and durable design, but 35% found it flimsy
For the cost, I expected more, but I am satisfied overall.
When I buy and set up the product, things get a little weird.
73% praised the connectivity, but 27% experienced issues
The signal strengths are really good.
When I use the powerline adapter in the far away room, I get 28-30 mbps with fair loss. The unit is not plugged in the same breaker group of outlets as recommended.
I bought the product to connect my desktop to the internet via Ethernet cable.
I can get 900Mbps by plugging my laptop into the same port as the device since it is connected to a gigabit router.
I experienced issues with the product forming a secondary network connection, causing problems with my smart home applications and dropping the connection frequently.
78% found it easy to set up and install, but 22% had trouble with configuration
The installation instructions were easy to follow and the product worked well after installation.
The product was advertised as having an easy automatic setup, but it was not. I also had to buy a full second kit when I only needed the remote device.
78% found the network speed to be fast and reliable, but 22% experienced slow speeds
I have tested both wired and wireless connections from the extender and am getting 70-80Mbps on average. Considering I have a 100Mbps connection from my ISP, it's really good.
As a network engineer, I noticed that my gigabit fiber circuit has a slow connection speed. After conducting a speed test, I only received a quarter of 1MB, which is 1/4,000th of my wired internet connection's speed. I am confident that I am not doing anything wrong.
I am getting a very low internet speed as compared to what the device is showing, which is not expected.
My wifi speed in the same room is roughly 250mbps, which is actually worse than my current poor signal wifi. Based on my experience, I can say this.
78% praised the extended range and coverage, but 22% experienced dropped signals
At 300 feet, the device worked well and I imagine it would work even better inside the house.
Despite having a strongish signal, the powerline range was not enough for my home.
When I am close to the receiver, the signal is very good, but once I leave its proximity, it rapidly deteriorates.
The build quality of the POE injector and splitter is better when ordered separately. They are made of black plastic, are gigabit and 802.3af compliant. The POE injector comes with the 48v adapter.
PoE doesn't do anything on its own, but it adds great value with an Access Point, avoiding the need for power at the AP.
