About Craftsman V20 Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
75% appreciated the long battery life, although 25% thought it drained quickly
The battery life is pretty good. I used both the small and larger battery to get my job done. However, my arms died before the bigger battery did with lots of high work to do.
The battery life is okay, but it's not powerful enough for my needs.
72% liked the sharp and durable blades, yet 28% found them dull quickly
I was surprised that the blades cut comparably to a gas hedge trimmer I borrowed once, despite my expectation of it being much weaker.
I have to muscle the trimmers against the stalks or branches with more force than with my previous trimmers. The blades are not very aggressive and take longer to grab hold and get cutting.
68% praised its sturdy construction, yet 32% felt it was flimsy
I like the quality of the trimmer and there are some things to like about the design.
I find the product a bit unstable and pricey.
My wife and neighbor's wife find the power hedge trimmer heavy and unwieldy, indicating a problem with its build quality.
I am concerned about the weak and non-rigid connection between the two poles. It comes loose frequently and I hope it doesn't break.
77% liked excellent cutting performance, but 23% found it struggled with thicker branches.
I was surprised to find that the blades of this power hedge trimmer cut comparably to a gas hedge trimmer I borrowed once.
The trimmer has a good reach and cuts well, but it is heavy and bulky.
Even smaller stems tend to get pushed around by the blades before the cutting action bites into them.
I find the pole flimsy and it requires a lot of dexterity to keep straight while cutting.
78% liked its user-friendly design, while 22% found it cumbersome
My wife and neighbor's wife found it incredibly heavy and unwieldy.
I found it difficult to use the power-hedge-trimmers at 90 or 45 degrees if I extended my arms at all.
76% liked the low noise level, while 24% found it too loud
Using the unit at either 90 or 45 degrees is very difficult if I extend my arms at all.
The trimmer is too heavy to hold over my head for very long.
73% appreciated its portability, though 27% found it heavy
I can extend the trimmer up to 11 feet, making it convenient to reach high and hard-to-reach places.
My only issue with the trimmer is the weight of the motor head, which makes it a bit difficult to handle.
74% appreciated the safety features, but 26% found them lacking
I am concerned about the safety features of the power-hedge-trimmer. The weak connection and wobbly cutting head make the tool feel like it will break easily. The effectiveness of the safety collar is not clear.
I have complained about the poor design of the trimmer. It becomes poorly balanced when angled and badly needs a T-handle to make it more manageable. Additionally, it tires me out fast because I have to grip it really strongly to keep it from twisting.
74% liked its versatility for various tasks, but 26% found it limited
The hedge trimmer has a 180 degree pivoting head which provides 5 positions for cutting at various angles.
If the trimmer had a handle similar to a weed wacker mid-pole, it would be easier for me to handle.
I would not recommend the versatrack system due to poor battery performance of all compatible products.
78% highlighted its minimal vibration, although 22% experienced significant vibration
The flex in the pole with the safety collar makes me feel like the tool will break just by setting it on the ground.
When the trimmer is angled, especially for use near the ground, it becomes very poorly balanced and there is no way to handle it well.
The battery life is pretty good. I used both the small and larger battery to get my job done. However, my arms died before the bigger battery did with lots of high work to do.
I want to get a second battery. I called Craftsman and was told that I could get a second battery for $79 or a pack of 2 batteries on sale for $59!
