About DEWALT Hammer Drill, 1/2-Inch, 7.8-Amp (DW511)
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
86% appreciated the long-lasting battery life, but 14% experienced frequent battery drain
I thought the drill smelled like it was burning oil at first, but it might have just needed to warm up.
I had to charge the batteries mid-project or try to complete projects with a fading tool, indicating that the battery life of the drill was not good enough for my needs.
69% impressed with the drill's durability, while 31% experienced frequent breakdowns
I was able to handle the heavy concrete footer with rock in it without any issues.
I noticed that the bits get hot and wear down quickly, which suggests that the drill may not be very durable.
After only two holes, the drill broke indicating poor durability.
I have suggested that the drill is not durable enough and has broken due to excessive torque. I also suggested a remedy to prevent this problem.
Rephrased: The drill is not durable enough and has broken due to excessive torque. I suggested a remedy to prevent this problem.
81% found it easy to use
I can punch 1/2 inch holes in solid concrete with no pilot hole in 10 seconds each using the drill.
I have excellent control of the tool when using the handle.
I think the drill is smaller, lighter, and more powerful.
I used the Bosch drill for the task without any issues, as it is a heavier duty drill.
I was able to drill holes much faster with the rental hammer drill compared to the Dewalt511.
84% liked the comfortable grip, but 16% found it bulky
The handle is useless as it slips off and hits the chuck. The design is poor.
I suggest improving the drill design by adding a slip clutch to disengage the spindle during extreme stops.
I am not satisfied with the ergonomics design of the drill as it did not hold up to some occasional cement mixing in small batches.
76% appreciated the low noise level, while 24% found it loud and vibratory
On both hammer and drill settings, the drill still functions but makes a grinding sound.
I can't believe this situation.
While drilling outside in hot weather, the drill started spraying grease all over the place.
81% found the hammer effective, while 19% experienced variable results
I punched 1/2 inch holes in solid concrete with no pilot hole in 10 seconds each.
I can now drill a hole for anchors in less than 30 seconds, whereas before it would take me minutes to drill a rounded out hole.
After using the power-hammer-drill, I was able to drill perfect holes #2 and #3 in just 60 seconds. This positive feedback shows the great performance of the power-hammer-drill.
While using the drill to bore holes with different wood bits, it got extremely warm and even smoked a few times.
With the 20V MAX XR battery system, I never have to worry about running out of power mid-task.
