I have connected the converter's input to the 48 volt power supply and the 12 volt accessories to its output. Even if all the 12 volt items run simultaneously, they don’t approach the 20 A limit of the converter, and all the batteries share the load.

For my purposes, the output remained stable up to 31VDC, which was more than enough.
I tested the regulator with a variable power supply and found it stable from 20-58 volts input.
