The base of my mailbox is 5 1/4 inches wide and the bottom is 39 inches above the ground, which is pretty standard. However, I need longer screws to attach the mailbox to the base and will have to drill holes for them.
Once the horizontal support is installed to the post, there is more than 1/16 of an inch of space which causes instability in the mailbox platform.
