About PHILCO Personal CD Player with MP3 Playback
Overall Feedback:
80% positive
88% highlighted the supported formats, while 12% were disappointed
I still listen to my collection of CDs even though most have moved onto more sophisticated formats.
My primary complaint is that the portable CD player claims to play various types of CDs, but only recognized 4 tracks when I inserted a CD-R with music.
73% liked the size
I like that the CD player runs on batteries instead of being rechargeable, which makes it easier to manage on a long trip if I won't be near a charger.
I found that the portable CD player is only slightly larger than a CD in circumference and about an inch deep, making it very compact.
69% found the display and controls helpful
I have an LCD screen and buttons on the top of my CD player, including play mode, preset modes, stop, play/pause, track forward, and track backwards.
73% appreciated its compatibility with accessories
I can connect the CD player to computer speakers using an aux cord, but Bluetooth is not supported.
74% were satisfied with the battery life
I like that the portable CD player runs on batteries, making it easier to manage on a long trip without a charger.
I appreciate the feature of the portable CD player that picks right back up where I left off after replacing the old batteries with new ones.
76% appreciated the audio quality, but 24% raised concerns
The sound quality is good, but there is a noticeable background hiss when I turn on the player. However, it disappears once the music starts playing.
The audio quality of the portable CD player was not good with the earbuds that came with it. But, after plugging in podcasting headphones, I experienced much better audio quality with dynamic range and a warmer tone.
81% liked the anti-skip protection
The CD player has a 100 second no-skip feature, ensuring continuous play unless I am really jogging about.
I tested the anti-shock feature by playing table hockey with the device during 'Cold, Cold, Heart' and it never skipped a beat.
I noticed that the portable CD player lacks a remote control and the skip a track function causes it to stutter back and forth between tracks alarmingly.
I bought this portable CD player because it got good reviews about not skipping, but right out of the box, it was skipping every few seconds, even with the anti-skip button on. I didn't even touch it, and it was still skipping.

I won't be replacing my portable CD player as it's a battery sucker. It's fine as long as it's not dropped, but overall.
