About Yamaha Mini-key Portable Keyboard PSS-A50
91% liked the variety of connectivity options, but 9% found them limited
I use this keyboard as a MIDI keyboard, which is a connectivity option of portable-arranger-keyboards.
I plugged it into my iMac running the latest Big Sur and it instantly became a midi controller, working with Logic like a charm.
This keyboard has portamento but no mono option.
The wire provided with the keyboard is very short, which limits my movement while using it.
74% liked the intuitive display and interface, but 26% found it confusing
The interface is intuitive and easy to learn, and the built-in display shows essential information.
I noticed that the Arpeggiator Hold button does not latch. The Arpeggiator Hold button does not latch.
87% appreciated the long-lasting durability, but 13% found it stopped working very soon
When I took the product out of the box, it felt like a toy. But after using it, I realized it was smaller and lighter than expected. Although it looks fragile, it is not and worth every penny. A storage case is necessary.
I found that the keyboard structure is not very sturdy as it was warped and could not sit flat with all four feet on a table. However, I could apply a very modest amount of force to bend it and make it sit flat due to the soft body of the keyboard.
I find that the product lacks the ports and sturdiness of the reface series.
90% liked the responsive and weighted keys
The keys feel great and I compared them with a more expensive product.
I like how the mini-keys respond to the force with which they are pressed.
For me, the best features of the keyboard are its ability to transpose and octave up and down, as well as its dynamic key response.
The keyboard has amazing key response and is battery operated with pretty good sound.
93% found it incredibly lightweight and portable, but 7% thought it was too bulky
The keyboard is easy to carry around as it is portable.
I find the product to be a great value, although it lacks ports and sturdiness compared to the reface series.
I appreciate that Yamaha is still producing consumer-grade keyboards, but this keyboard falls short of my expectations.
89% praised the rich and clear sound, while 11% found it lacking in depth
The sound quality is not like a toy, but like an actual Yamaha musical product.
I compared the sound quality of the keyboard with my other tone generators and they have much better sound quality.
The quality is not the best, but it's not horrible.
The volume levels of some instruments are hugely different from others, which seems like a basic quality control issue. It makes me think this is a cheap knock-off instead of a proper Yamaha instrument.
