During 117 degree weather, I found the portable air conditioner powerful enough to keep a 1200 Sq ft room cool.
I can comfortably cool my 500 square feet apartment from 64 degrees to just under 70 degrees in a few hours using the air conditioner.
The 12,000 btu unit effectively cools my 300 square foot master bedroom with a little help from a ceiling fan. Within a couple of hours of startup, the entire room is much cooler and less humid.
If I leave the 14,000 size unit running in the front room, it can effectively cool the first level of my house.

I did not use the louvered air exhaust that comes with the kit and instead built a sturdy wooden attachment for the window.
The portable air conditioner is safer and easier to use than a window unit. I vented the hot air out of the room using the chimney.
I found the window kit easy to install and stretchable to fit my 58" window. However, the exhaust hose is very short (about 5") and may need to be replaced with a longer one.
If the exhaust hose is run too far, it will throw quite a bit of heat. This indicates the efficiency of our A/C unit, which essentially takes hot air out as exhaust.

The remote control is excellent.
I found the remote control very useful as I could turn down the air conditioner while watching TV.

I found the installation process easy. I had to wait for 24 hours to let it settle and faced vibration at first, but leveling the unit easily rectified it.
Assembling the A/C was easy and it came together quickly.
I found the installation process a bit tricky, specifically setting up the telescoping metal plate that blocks the window above the vent, but managed to do it on my own.
