About Portable Air Conditioner
Overall Feedback:
73% positive
80% liked the cooling capacity, although 20% felt it could be more efficient
I recommend the BLACK & DECKER 14000 BTU A/C unit as the best option to cool down the place. It is effective in cooling down the room.
With the doors left open, the Black and Decker model keeps the room cool.
The unit cools the room temperature fairly fast when it's around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but takes a few hours when it's around 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside.
The portable air conditioner cools enough and reduces humidity to make several small adjacent rooms comfortable.
I calculated the required BTU for the job and expected this portable air conditioner to be capable of doing it, but unfortunately it failed.
84% were impressed with the noise level, yet 16% found it slightly bothersome
I noticed that this portable air conditioner is rather loud when running, but the noise is lower than other brand A/C units.
This portable air conditioner is loud when running, but quieter than other brand A/C units.
The fan is not too loud, but when the compressor kicks on, it gets noisy.
I like the noise level of the portable air conditioner as it reminds me of comfort and relaxation. It's comparable to the average motel room A/C unit.
The portable air conditioner is a bit loud compared to central AC and window unit.
82% highlighted the portability and mobility, but 18% found it cumbersome
I expected a better design for the window plate to make moving the portable air conditioner between rooms easier.
I found the setup of the portable air conditioner easy, but had difficulty with the exhaust tube, which was a pain to screw on the heads on each end.
84% commented on the air Filtration system
I am satisfied with the air filtration system of the portable air conditioner as it filters out dust and allergens from the air, which is especially helpful as I live next to a dirt road with dump trucks running back and forth all day.
I have used different brand A/C units for 20 years and faced issues such as loud noise, water dripping, excessive power-consumption, filter jammed or handle broke off. Based on my experience, I can say that no A/C unit is perfect. My negative feedback is regarding the Air Filtration System feature.
87% found the ventilation options useful, while 13% were indifferent
I am dissatisfied with the window kit and feel that it could have been designed better.
I faced issues while screwing the exhaust hoses into the fittings and I am not happy with the oval shaped connector to the window plate. After a few months of sun & summer heat, the plastic deformed a bit and it doesn't stay 'clipped' together.
85% appreciated the remote control, however 15% found them unnecessary
The remote works as expected.
I set up the unit temporarily until I got the remote unpacked. After using the remote to activate Max, which is also called Turbo on different machines, I was impressed.
It can be confusing to turn on the portable air conditioner with the remote and then turn it off on the console. It is recommended to use the same location for both, either the console or the remote.
To do anything beyond turning the unit on and off and adjusting the temperature, I need the remote control. It sends discreet commands for each incremental increase or decrease in temperature, ensuring that the temperature displayed on the remote is never out of sync with the unit, as long as I change the temperature at least once with the remote.
80% found it quick to install
I found that the portable air conditioner is easy to install in almost every type of window, including tall windows that cannot fit a normal AC, thanks to the installation package it comes with.
The portable air conditioner arrived in a sturdy retail box and was assembled to avoid collapsing during shipping. The box had clear instructions to keep it upright, which helped me avoid the issue of having to let it stand vertical for 24 hours before plugging it in.
Once in the correct location, it was quite easy for me to install.
