A

Apurv: So, thank you so much Ken for joining us.

K

Ken: My pleasure.

A

Apurv: So, how did you become involved in the field of full spectrum light therapy, and what inspired you to start Science Flight?

K

Ken: Sure, thank you very much. Ironically, I was working for a toy manufacturer many years ago, actually, it's about 35 or 40 years ago, and this particular manufacturer liked me very much. I completed a task that I was hired for, and he asked me to come take a look at a video, which I did. In those days, I remember it was called video, but whatever the case may be, it was the work of this fellow by the name of John Ott, Dr. John Ott. Dr. Ott was being supported by my boss to some degree for some research on televisions. To make a long story short, I saw the video and I saw some of his time-lapse photography and some of his work with Walt Disney, the growing of plants, and his interest in light, and I was fascinated and quite blown away.

A

Apurv : That sounds interesting. So, how did you start working on full-spectrum light?

K

Ken: Well, as I said, my task was then done with my current employer, or the passion employer. I asked him if he could possibly introduce me to Dr. Ott. Lo and behold, he did, and at the same time, not only did he introduce me, but he helped and arranged for me to get a license agreement from Dr. Ott for his newly patented products that were generically known as full spectrum light. So that was the beginning of me coming into the business of full spectrum light as a profit-making company, and that was, as I say, about 35 years ago. At that time, I was Art Ott Light Systems in Santa Barbara, California. I stayed with that business for about 10 years, sold out if you would, and semi-retired as a reasonably young chap.

A

Apurv : That's quite impressive. Can you explain the difference between visible spectrum-only lights and full spectrum lights and why the latter is more beneficial for human health?

K

Ken: By all means. Generically, these days, there are a lot of products on the marketplace that refer to themselves as full spectrum light. Even when I started, what I called full spectrum light, or what Dr. Ott called full spectrum light, compared to today and the newer technology and new science that's out there, full spectrum light, for most people, manufacturers as well as consumers, is basically the visible spectrum or what we might refer to as white light that you can see. But to be really concerned, rather to be really termed full spectrum, the spectrum also, that, excuse me, on both ends of the spectrum, there's both the invisible ultraviolet on the blue side and there's the near-infrared and infrared on the, do I dare say, the red side of the spectrum. So, real full spectrum light, from my perspective, includes both the visible as well as the invisible.

A

Apurv : That's quite informative. So, can you talk about some of the challenges you faced while developing SEO Sol shine photo nutrition and other full spectrum light products and how you overcame those challenges?

K

Ken:  Sure, by all means. First of all, let me take this back up many years back when I first started, just to give you a little insight. At the time that I was starting to promote the importance of full spectrum light, ironically, the pharmaceutical companies, at the same time, were promoting the need for all these skin lotions to protect you from the Sun. Sure, by all means. First of all, let me take this back up many years back when I first started, just to give you a little insight. At the time that I was starting to promote the importance of full spectrum light, ironically, the pharmaceutical companies, at the same time, were promoting the need for all these skin lotions to protect you from the Sun. So, we have created a product that we believe is very beneficial for human health, and we're trying to get the word out. We have to convince people that this is not just another gadget, that this is something that's really going to improve their health, and it's something that they should invest in. So, that's our current challenge, and we're working on it every day. Yeah, I think that's definitely the case. One thing that I would add is that we're trying to educate people about the importance of light for their health. There's a lot of misinformation out there, and a lot of people don't realize how important light is for their well-being. So, we're really trying to get the word out and educate people about this.

A

Apurv : Yeah, that's a really important point. I think a lot of people take light for granted and don't realize how much it affects their health and their mood. So, it's great that you guys are working to raise awareness about this.

K

Ken: Yeah, absolutely. We really believe in the power of light, and we think that it can make a big difference in people's lives. So, we're committed to spreading the word and helping people understand the importance of light for their health and well-being.

A

Apurv : Well, that's great to hear. Thank you so much, Ken, for sharing your insights and experiences with us today. It's been really informative and enlightening.
