I dislike the open top design of the trap as it could lead to accidental spills. A better design would be a spice top with holes for the fruit flies to fit through.
The main fault of the trap is its shape and the opening is too wide. The flies mostly sit on the rim then fly off.
The container does not trap flies, they fly around it but not in it.
