About Redragon K512 Shiva RGB Backlit Membrane Gaming Keyboard
Overall Feedback:
72% positive
95% highlighted the wrist rest
My favorite part of the keyboard is the wrist rest because it is comfortable and easy to attach and detach.
The wrist rest is a nice addition to gaming and more comfortable than I expected.
84% found it exceptional, but 16% faced issues
I felt a little cramped while using the keyboard, despite the keys being normal sized.
The keyboard layout is too narrow for me to be productive. I constantly hit the caps lock key when I go to press 'a' because the keys are so tight together.
The keyboard has a complete set of keys and a full num pad, but the additional function keys make everything scaled down. This causes difficulty in typing smoothly without looking as the keys are not in the same place on a standardized full-sized keyboard. The keys are smaller, but the throws are not.
The key layout of my keyboard is unbearably cramped compared to my previous daily-use keyboard.
69% appreciated the key switch type
The keys are raised like a mechanical keyboard but without the noise.
85% liked the customization software, but 15% didn't.
I found the software easy to use. It allows reprogramming of any key, recording macros, and adding mouse clicks.
Recording and assigning macro/function keys is easy and reliable, making A/V editing much smoother and productive.
I uninstalled the optional software as it was not user-friendly.
I found the software weird and it's very easy to overwrite macros. It's also difficult to clear a macro from a key when you want it to go back to unprogrammed.
86% were satisfied with the build quality and durability
Typing on the keys is satisfying and they don't feel cheaply made.
95% were impressed with the backlighting, but 5% weren't
The backlight and keys are great for evening hours as I don't need to turn on lights to see the keyboard.
In low light, the keyboard backlighting is difficult to read.
I suggest that for those who type a lot and are seated in a certain way, a wrist rest would be better. However, the keyboard is perfect in size for my slide-out keyboard tray and chair height.
I recommend using a wrist rest to elevate your hands and match the angle.
