I put in 6 cards to test while traveling and also added slips of paper and coins in the zippered pocket, a little cash in the boarding pass sleeve, a SIM card, and an International Driving Permit in the passport pocket. It closes easily and firmly, and though it feels bulky when I add my passport, which is twice as thick as the US ones, and my iPhone 8, it still closes.
This travel wallet/passport holder is not big and bulky, and is just a little larger than the size of a paperback book.
During airplane travel, this wallet worked great for me.
