Based on my experience, the snow chains seem pretty durable.
I have used these chains for almost two years and put around 250 miles on them. Despite being rusty after sitting in the garage for the summer, they still work great. The rust comes off easily with snow melt and abrasion, and it doesn't seem to affect their strength. If it's cold enough and the roads aren't too salty or slushy, they don't rust.
