About Westinghouse 2550 Peak Watt Super Quiet & Lightweight Portable Inverter Generator
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
90% liked the sturdy construction, but 10% found it flimsy
The generator weighs around 60 lbs and has a convenient center-mounted top handle for easy transportation, even with one hand.
I compared the engine quality of the Westinghouse generator with Honda and found that it is made of poor quality parts compared to Honda.
Many of the housing screws have vibrated loose and the housing is coming apart.
There are too many defective units and an obvious quality issue with our product.
81% liked the fuel efficiency
I was surprised by the fuel efficiency of the generator during my varied tests. The fuel meter hit zero but it just kept running.
70% found maintenance straightforward, but 30% faced complications
I love how portable the generator is and am prepared to keep it maintained. However, I might end up having to pay a service center to keep it working well.
During a storm, the generator was inoperable and oscillating from high to low engine speeds while leaking fuel.
89% were satisfied with the quiet operation, but 11% were bothered
The noise level of the generator is not too high and it seems to be as loud as my 4500 watt WEN.
The noise level is a bit louder than I thought, but it's not an issue yet.
I am disappointed with the noise level of the generator. It is louder than expected, producing 75dbs at idle and 80-83dbs with a load. This is negative feedback regarding the noise level feature of outdoor-generators.
Despite the noise level not being as advertised, I found the generator easy to start and run smoothly.
Under load, the generator's noise level is a bit disappointing.
At full load, the generator is pretty noisy and it would be hard to have a conversation with it 10 ft away.
81% found it easy to transport
This generator is portable and easy to move around, and it doesn't take up much space like a bigger generator would.
I like the portability of the inverter and how lightweight it is, making it easy to lift into a truck.
I bought this unit for occasional power outages at home and it is light enough for portability at the power level it is made for.
90% appreciated the high power output, but 10% found it insufficient
On a 94 degree humid day while using propane only, I noticed that the AC consumed 1200-1330 watts.
The generator has a display that shows remaining run time, power output, fuel level, voltage output, and lifetime hours.
I have noticed that the generator struggles with highly inductive loads such as a shop vac when in eco throttle mode, but works well when eco throttle is off. Additionally, it delivers its rated power for power factor 1 loads like a heater.
I couldn't power my electric chainsaw, which draws 14.5 amps, even with a 10 gauge 50 extension cord using the generator.
71% appreciated the long runtime, but 29% found it limited
I chose this generator for its promised 12 hour run time and tested it for 20 minutes at 500W load.
I set the generator outside the door for its five hour run startup.
I ran it for only about 30 minutes.
I can start the generator on choke but it stalls right away when turning to run.
After fully fueling the generator, I could only run it for 4-5 hours.
81% found it easy to start up, but 19% experienced difficulties
For me, it was the easiest first start of a pull start engine.
I noticed that the generator started easily but never ran smoothly, sputtered and eventually died. It was unable to sustain a load.

80% found it resistant to various weather conditions
93% found it easy to start up
79% appreciated the long runtime

I have bought an all-weather cover for my generator so that I can store it outside and run it in inclement weather, which is necessary without a roofed carport.
