About Pulsar 1,200W Carrying Handle, PG1202S Gas-Powered Portable Generator
75% appreciated the long runtime, but 25% found it limited
I ran the generator for 15 minutes and then increased the load to 900 watts.
I started the generator and it took 10 minutes to start. It ran hit and miss for 3 minutes before dying.
79% appreciated the high power output, but 21% found it insufficient
I tested the power output of the generator with a Kill-A-Watt meter and a 450 watt load. It is rated at 900 watts continuous and 1200W for short duration. The voltage was about 122V at 62 Hz under no load and 120V at about 60 Hz under 1/2 load (450W).
I plugged two saws into the generator with a total of 8 amps and ran both of them simultaneously without any issues.
I bought a generator with a higher power output of 1200 watts, but it turned out to be no more than 900 watts.
77% found maintenance straightforward, but 23% faced complications
I noticed that the generator was leaking gas from the tank right out of the box. He contacted the warrantee center right away and they sent him out a shut off valve. He tried installing the part but there isn't enough space to work in order to remove the part with the tools he has. Since it was under warrantee he called for help. He was told that he would be called back with a name of a repair shop within 40 miles of his location.
78% found it easy to start up, but 22% experienced difficulties
It was my first time using a generator, but I found it easy to start and operate. It was also light enough for me to lift.
The recoil starter pulls fairly easily, but the compression is high enough that the string does not pull super smooth.
84% found it easy to transport
I use the generator to power my boiler, circulation pumps during power outages and small tools when too far from the house.
75% were satisfied with the quiet operation, but 25% were bothered
The generator is somewhat quieter than expected with a larger muffler that helps exhaust noise. However, there is still some noise from occasional misfires and engine casing.
I find that the generator is difficult to start and produces a high level of noise that can disturb the neighbors.
